About Marcelo Martinho Pedro
An expert in soft-commodity trading and agribusiness, Marcelo Martinho Pedro recently founded Veron Brasil, a company which focus on advising / consulting for foreign clients on operations management and investments in Brazilian Agribusiness; handling new business development in imports to and exports from Brazil, in agricultural products and foodstuffs; prospecting and structuring M&A transactions across the entire agro-food value chain in Brazil. Until recently, he guided Olam Brasil, Ltda., as country manager. In his agenda-setting role, he oversaw the company's Brazilian cotton, rice, and sugar operations. Moreover, he carried out information technology, human resources, and finance functions while also assisting in importation and local spices distribution. Prior to his promotion to country manager, Marcelo Martinho Pedro worked for Olam Brasil as business head of the sugar division. His duties involved prefinancing operations, logistics, and direct trading. He was responsible for establishing the company's Brazilian sugar enterprise.
At the start of his career, Pedro worked as general manager of distribution for AmBev. He joined the company in 1993 as part of the management trainee program, after which he oversaw an AmBev-owned Brazilian distribution center. After leaving the company in 1997, he secured the manager position for new business development at Cargill Agricola, SA. While there, he designed new sugar products, carried out capex investments, and helped originate large quantities of sugar products for export.
